Alice German

Young Ukrainian girl is included in the Book of Records of Ukraine as the youngest artist of the Petrikovskaya painting.
Alice has been drawing from the childhood: when she was one year, she painted at home, then, at school age, she began to attend art schools, in 2010 she presented her works at the exhibition in the National Sanctuare «Sophia of Kiev», and her first personal exhibition was held in February 2016. For today, Alisa has 13 personal exhibitions.

Alice, what is the peculiarity of your art?

I use elements of Petrikov's painting in my works. This is a decorative and miniature technique, there are many elements in it that can be used not only in the traditional form (drawing flowers and birds). I use Petrikovskaya painting in the depiction of fantastic characters, my works have their own story, in which the characters live and move, swim, play and indulge. The term of one work creation can be from one week to 2-3 months, depending on the availability of free time, inspiration and other factors.

What is your art about?

My art represent the animal world, the world of fairy tales, which I devise and describe. Often the heroes of my work are my friends, relatives or acquaintances, who turn into images of different animals. I do not really like to draw flowers, which are an integral part of the traditional Petrikovsky painting. I always want to portray animals.

Do you have the most favorite work among yours? If so, which one and why?

Perhaps, the most favorite painting is Bobrik on a hammock, because it reminds me a good rest and happy days of summer vacation, as well as the merry case of how my grandmother flipped in the air when she lay down on the hammock :)

What, in your opinion, is the artist's the most important task?

Bring joy to people with their work. I like when children share their impressions, and then rework my work. Such funny things turn out.

Tell us about your extra hobbies. In which fields do you see yourself in the future?

I have sports achievements in swimming, confirmed the third adult rank, the winner of numerous sports swimming competitions. I swim from birth, from 1,5 months. Also I'm fond of dancing: hip-hop and break-dance. I write books, draw illustrations for them. In the future I dream of publishing my own stories for children. I have not yet decided in the profession, I want to become a famous artist or illustrator, or maybe a writer and an artist. But in any direction that I choose, I know for sure that my profession will be connected with creativity.

Tell us three most significant facts about yourself

In the summer 2017 I took part in the competition and swam 1 kilometer marathon . It was very tiring, I was not sure that I would manage this task. But I was able to do this and was very happy.

My surname is included in the Book of Records of Ukraine. When I was preparing to set the Record of Ukraine, I had to work so hard to prepare a lot of works in a short time, but Petrikovskaya painting can not be written quickly. To work with cat's brushes (which I do from the fur of my cat) is not so simple, they are used for miniature elements.

I love meeting with a neighbor Labrador. When I go from school and meet dog Asya, she licks me from head to foot, sometimes she just hits the ground, then I have a good mood all day. I dream of having a Labrador dog, but my family does not have such an opportunity now.

Tell us a little about the city where you were born, and also about the place where you studied art

I was born in Pavlograd in 2005, but immediately moved to live in Kiev (2 weeks after birth), my parents worked there.
I took up Petrikovskaya painting from 8 years. At first I attended classes in the DDYUT Goloseevsky district of Kiev. When I was 10, my talent was noticed by Petrovsky painting and folk decorative painting master Elena Ivanovna Skitsyuk (Marfa Timchenko’s daughter), artist, laureate of the Catherine Belokur Award (2011), member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine . Elena Ivanovna paid attention to me and took me to her students, I was trained first on the basis of the Cathedral of Sobornaya, then I visited the workshop, and in 2016 the Petrikov Painting School named after Marfa Timchenko was founded, it worked on the basis of the Museum of outstanding figures of Ukrainian culture (2016-2017). Since that time until today, classes are held on the basis of the gallery "Svetlitsa" of the Ivan Gonchar Museum. I attend these classes till now.
